If you have a heart for hospice and would like to volunteer with Cypress Hospice, we would love to hear from you. We are always looking for compassionate volunteers in the following areas:
Patient Care Volunteers
Cypress patient care volunteers help to ensure that our patients never feel as if they are alone. These volunteers may sit with our patients and participate in hobbies or activities the patient enjoys, reading to the patient, or simply visiting with the patient or holding a hand during a time of need.
These volunteers are particularly important in celebrating life’s journey, because they allow caregivers a few moments or hours to run errands, catch up on grocery shopping, or take some time to rest. Caregivers can then return refreshed and able to be fully present with patients.
Pet Therapy Volunteers
Most people are familiar with the love and joy that pets bring to our lives. Pets have also been shown through scientific studies to reduce stress and anxiety in chronically ill people. Often, just seeing the furry face of a canine friend can take a patient’s mind off his or her pain or current condition, even if just for a moment.
The power of touch to bring comfort and relaxation is a welcome part of our patient care. We work with trained and licensed massage therapists who donate their time to provide this service for our patients. Even just a few minutes of massage can help a patient relax and feel less anxious or stressed.
Administrative Support volunteers perform tasks that assist with the day-to-day operation of our office. These tasks may include basic administration tasks like filing, answering phones, making copies or preparing paperwork. This volunteer role is particularly suited to individuals who want to help, but may not have availability or capacity for other volunteer roles.
